This PD will explain in detail the concept of synthetic phonics and the vital role phonics plays in learning to read. Synthetics phonics will be compared to the other types of phonics strategies that are often mentioned in literacy discussions. The five essential elements of reading instruction will be explained along with the important contribution of synthetic phonics and phonemic awareness as two of these elements. 2.5 hours PD session.
